The Value of Women Taking up a Trade

To mark International Women’s Day on March 8th, Roimata Maihi, a cadet working at our Ormiston Junior College project in South Auckland, was interviewed about the value of women taking up a trade.

Hawkins is part of Auckland Maori & Pacific Trades Training (MPTT) programme and supports the drive to get more women through their apprenticeships to help meet the growing demand for qualified tradespeople.

As well as being a busy Construction cadet at Hawkins, Roimata generously gives up her time to mentor MPTT apprentices.

Hawkins acknowledge, thank and celebrate all the great women around us in our personal and professional lives and look forward to seeing more women taking up the tools in future.
