Bridges

To improve regional road networks Hawkins has recently completed the Cove Road Bridge at Langs Beach in Northland, replacing the existing single lane bridge with a new two lane structure.

Completed for Whangarei District Council in December 2008, the project required detailed planning to prevent any negative environmental impacts, and was completed with minimal inconvenience to the local population.

Another successful bridge Hawkins has built is the Waikokowai Road Overbridge which consists of cast in-situ concrete columns and pier-heads, pre-cast concrete deck beams with a cast in-situ concrete topping. It posed challenges in both construction and transport management as the bridge construction went over both an existing road and busy rail line.
