Immediate Disaster Response procedures were employed for this project. 4,428 tonnes of perishable waste and demolition material was treated, sorted and removed for recycling or taken to landfill. Effective liaison with Fire, Police, Insurance, Public and Media ensured that the demolition process, odor control initiatives, environmental compliance and contamination remediation were methodically managed under the ISO 14001 Risk Assessment Management plan. Central to the overall success of this project was the prompt containment of 100% of the contaminants, eliminating the risk of disease from the numerous types of perishable products.
