Hawkins Services

Hawkins fosters strong partnering relationships with clients that contribute to successful projects. The partnering concept is defined by having quantifiable project goals, a clear definition and understanding of the project scope, an understanding and appropriate allocation of risks, agreement on risk/reward arrangement, and skilled project staff. For Hawkins, the most important factor in the partnering relationship is well-defined communications through all levels with proper authority for decision.

Excellent project delivery is achieved through total team commitment; early detailed planning and outcome definition, supported with strong execution and monitoring. We are committed to delivering added value for our clients, working as a team with clients, consultants and subcontractors. That’s why our approach is unfettered by traditional thinking when it comes to procurement.

We do undertake many construction projects secured by traditional tender. However, we are recognised for having the expertise and knowledge to stepping beyond those parameters, undertaking a large percentage of work commissioned under non-traditional, innovative contracts to deliver significant benefit to our clients.

P & G Margin

Hawkins is appointed on an agreed P & G and margin prior to tendering the trades, on an open-book basis to establish a fixed lump sum or GMP contract.

Build and Design

Hawkins is contracted to lead the project team. Within this process, Hawkins is able to engage design consultants who are best for the project. Project control, management, responsibility and accountability rest with Hawkins.

Guaranteed Maximum Price

Hawkins prices the project early in the process based on the scope and concept, drawing on our experience on similar projects and knowledge of the client’s objectives to calculate the requirements of the complete project. As the design develops, Hawkins works with the team on to assess design build ability and identify savings while maintaining the project’s integrity.

Collaborative Working Arrangement/Partnering

When the client is seeking a different, more flexible method of working to better facilitate the project, Hawkins will work in a Collaborative Working Arrangement or in a partnership/alliance.

Collaborative Working Arrangements results in the client, design team and main contractor working together to create a ‘unity of purpose.’ Rather than each party being concerned with their contractual position, everyone takes responsibility to deliver the project within an agreed cost and time. By operating under a good faith agreement based on the budget figure, when all goes well, everyone gains; if it doesn’t, everyone shares in the pain.

Negotiation

Hawkins has negotiated many projects within all types of procurement methods. In a negotiated contract, Hawkins Construction expertise is brought in early in the process as part of the project team. Through this early participation, Hawkins can assist in cost savings by identifying and dealing with potential problems and developing appropriate solutions. Our clients benefit in time savings by not going through the traditional tendering process, and allowing staged design and construction.
